Career and Technical Education

Our young adults who have a strong interest in Food Service, Auto Detailing, Custodial Maintenance or Agricultural Science also known as Horticultural may have an opportunity to be placed in one of these Career and Technical Education shops (CTE) to further hone or explore skills in the areas of interest. 

These shops may be offered to our young adults to develop specific job skills, experience different tasks within the shop and to learn to work in a work environment with others.  Based upon student interests, these CTE experiences may be a training opportunity prior to being placed in a Structured Learning Experiences (SLE) in an unpaid or paid positions to further hone skills for success. Other young adults may have an opportunity for one of these CTE shops to provide further training to support their independence in daily living and or leisure skills.  These placements are generally for two marking periods or one school year.  

Food Service

Our young adults participating in Food Service will be exposed to practical daily living skills and activities to assist them to become independent adults. Work ethic and employment training in the area of Food Service will also be emphasized. The training program operates in the kitchen and staff dining hall located on our Westampton Main Campus.

Custodial Maintenance

Our young adults participating in Custodial Maintenance will be introduced to and begin to apply the tasks a Custodian performs and the equipment used to complete their jobs. These jobs generally include vacuuming, burnishing, window cleaning, floor mopping and cleaning, bathroom cleaning and stocking, trash collection, and recycling, assembling furniture and equipment, and using hand tools as appropriate.

Auto Detail

The Detail Shop is a working shop that performs like a business, serving its customers with a professional touch to each detailed vehicle. Our young adults use latest techniques and materials to service the vehicles with professional quality. Working as teams to complete various jobs and tasks help them to prepare for their own future business or employment in related fields. For our young adults who have honed their skills, work study opportunities may be available for them.  During this process, the young adults will learn to fill out an application and interview for a  paid position in the shop.

Agricultural Science

Greenhouse operations teaches the growing of plants from seeds, plugs and division. Students gain exposure to various growing environments inclusive of interior plantscaping and hydroponics. Students will learn the fundamentals of landscape maintenance to qualify for entry level positions inclusive of powered equipment, zero turn mowers, utility trucks, and small engine exploration of integral parts and processes inclusive of disassembly-reassembly of small engines.
